New Life

Where should I even begin?.... New job, new place to live, funeral, food poisoning, etc...  So much has happened since the last time Chantell or I had a chance to sit down and post a quick update about our life.  There is so much so I will do my best to keep it short.

NEW JOB
A few weeks back, maybe a month or so ago, Chantell and I were laying in bed talking about wanting to live an adventure by moving to Hawaii, Washington DC, or California.  And that was it, the seed had been planted and we were sold on the idea of moving off somewhere amazing to see the world.

So I put my resume out there and started applying for jobs around the country.  I had been applying to as many places as possible for a little over a week when, on a Tuesday, I got an email back from one of the places that I sent a resume.  They were asking what my salary requirements were so I just through out a number and within an hour I received an email back asking me to come to an interview in two days, Thursday.  I accepted the offer not thinking much of it and off I went to the interview.

The interview went great and as I'm leaving they tell me that if I am to be interviewed a second time that I should expect a call by the end of next week.  Less than an hour after I had finished interviewing I receive a call asking if I can come in the next day for a second interview with the executives and the rest of the team.  I accepted, interviewed again, and by the time the interview ended they offered me the job!

So here's the kicker, Chantell and I had dreamed of going on an adventure and moving off to some exotic place like I mentioned above, and well the job offer I received was in... ready for it, OREM, UTAH...  haha not so adventurous after all :)

NEW HOME
After some serious prayer, thought, and contemplation we decided to go for it!  The job itself is basically the same thing I've been doing for the past year, internet marketing, but with a little more responsibility.  I put in my two weeks at my other job and Chantell and I started traveling down to Utah county as much as possible to try and find a place to live.  We basically lived in our car (with all the hours of driving), ugh.. and Presley lived at grandma's house during our hunt.  It was not fun at all.  After days of searching we finally found a place we now call home.  It's right in the heart of town surrounded by a million things to do and places to eat, which is perfect for our little family and anyone that wants to come visit! :)  Plus we just got season passes to SEVEN PEAKS so we know what we will be doing all summer long :)

FUNERAL
Just days before we moved down to Orem Chantell's grandpa passed away.  It was a sad day but a good time for the family to come together.  We traveled up to Hyrum for the weekend to spend some time with the family and helping out.  The ceremony was beautiful and it was great to look back on such an amazing person's life.  Grandpa Benson was a true cowboy through and through and there are a lot of positive characteristics that come from that.  He loved his family and wanted more than anything for them to spend eternity together.  One of his favorite quotes was from President Ezra Taft Benson, "No empty chairs" and he lived by it and made it the Benson family moto.  As part of the funeral the grandchildren had the opportunity to share what they each learned from him and what they wanted to pass on to their family.  His love for the family was very apparent.

Also, grandpa Benson served the country in the Army so he received full military honors with the playing of taps, gun salute, and the flag covered coffin which was given to grandma Benson.  It was an honor to be apart of his funeral and to think about all the service men and women that have and do serve our country.  We love you grandpa Benson and will miss you dearly.  Until we meet again...  No empty chairs.

FOOD POISONING
As I mentioned above we went up to Hyrum to help out BUT... on our way up we stopped by In-N-Out to grab a bite to eat.  About an hour or so after eating both Chantell and I didn't feel great but didn't think much of it.  Upon arriving to Chantell's parents we were all sitting around the living room talking for a couple of hours and I began to feel really sick.  Then it hit me like a ton of bricks, I was going to lose my dinner and there was nothing I could do about it! Well I will leave out all the nasty details and just summarize by saying that Chantell and I both were sick to our stomachs, spent most of the night in the bathroom throwing up and didn't go to sleep until about 6 a.m.  So instead of being much help to anyone while we were there we were quite the opposite using everyone's help to watch Presley.

It was the most miserable 24 hours ever!!  And took 48 hours before we started to feel decent again.  Chantell has vowed to never eat In-N-Out ever again and I am taking a very long break from there.  But I just can't commit to never eating it again since I was so excited to move right next to one.  We shall see.

CONCLUSION
In conclusion we feel as though we just lived through a hurricane.  From the time we dreamed of living an adventure to actually be uprooted and living that adventure (kind of) all happened within about a 4 week period of time!!  We just want to say thank you so much to everyone that has come together to help us make this happen.  It was a lot of work getting everything moved and we appreciate the helping hands!  And we also want to say be careful what you wish for cause it just might happen and DON'T EAT IN-N-OUT!! :)

Photo Shoot!

Today Presley was asked to do a photo shoot for Academy J Headbands and we had so much fun! She was so well behaved too! I think it may have had something to do with the incredibly large ballon she got to hold ;) haha. Here are some pics I snapped with my iPhone while she was getting her picture taken by Sarah.
